Empty Arms
In the empty arms of a mother
The indescribable horror
Losing a child
No compassion for the oppressor
How could she possibly be thankful?
Her child is dead because of,
A war she didn’t want
They sit in another world
Watching their cable or satellite TV
Sunday football, Soap Operas
They have food and water
They have peaceful days
Drive their fancy cars
Believing this is justified
A father sits near his daughter
She is dying
She is so young
His heart is breaking
Her face terribly scared
Only a miracle could saver her
A war he didn’t want
They sit in another world
Worried about how their hair looks
Cutting the lawn on Saturday
Where to go on vacation
Condemning the poor
Complaining about the weather
How could they let this happen?
I am just a little girl
I lost my arm
My father comforts me
He has tears in his eyes
So many have died
The bombs keep falling
A war I didn’t want
They sit in another world
Playing their video games
Going to the zoo
Watching cartoons on TV
Reading stupid jokes on the web
Do they really know what happened?
I hope this never happens to them.
